Lehigh Twp. opens public works building
Lehigh Township officially opened its new Public Works Department building on Thursday.
Supervisor Cindy Miller led the program for the new maintenance building.
“Today marks not just the opening of the new facility, but the beginning of a new chapter in how we serve our community,” Miller said. “This building represents more than just a steel structure; it symbolizes our commitment to progress, innovation, and excellence in public services.”
Miller went on to say that the facility has been a dream for more than 20 years. The township applied for and received financial assistance through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant.
“In using financial assistance, matching funds from the general fund and working with a local bank to lock in a low interest, fixed rate loan, the township moved forward with the project,” Miller said. “Because of the collaboration with our partners, this facility will be fully paid for without raising taxes. This is quite an accomplishment.”
Lehigh Township was presented with a Certificate of Recognition from state Sen. Nick Miller; a Certificate of Achievement from Lamont G. McClure, Northampton County executive; and a Certificate of Recognition from state Rep. Zach Mako.
The opening of the ceremony began with a prayer led by Pastor Martin Nuscher of St. Paul’s UCC in Indianland, followed by a ribbon cutting with Public Works Director Frank P. Zamadics doing the honor.
Both Tim Bartlett and Lynne Bartlett commented that they think the new building is wonderful. Tim Bartlett is on the township’s Planning Committee, and Lynne Bartlett is on the Fundraising Committee for the Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company.
The new building is for storage of equipment and trucks, as well as for working on all vehicles in the township.
