Jim Thorpe graduates Leila Hurley and Olivia Smelas, along with Northern Lehigh products Trevor Amorim and Brenden Smay, were four of Kutztown University’s 133 student-athletes that earned Division 2 Athletic Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award status.

For a student-athlete to qualify for the award, they must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have completed a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work at a two-year and/or four-year institution and also been an active member of an intercollegiate team during the last academic year.

Hurley and Smelas were members of the women’s basketball team. Amorim played for the Golden Bears football team, while Smay wrestled for Kutztown.
