August 6, 2014 — The Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association holds its 11th annual Media Day, and for the first time Lehighton is a participant. The Indians, along with Blue Mountain, are newcomers to the Anthracite Football League which ups the membership to 11 schools. Lehighton receives instant respect, as the coaches’ poll ranks Tom McCarroll’s club second behind only North Schuylkill and receives two first-place votes. Other teams in the league include Jim Thorpe, Tamaqua, Panther Valley, Marian, Schuylkill Haven, Mahanoy Area, Minersville and Shenandoah Valley.
