Penn State Extension is offering scholarships for Pennsylvania residents to attend Penn State’s “Pork 101” program in October.
The Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council will provide up to $6,000 in scholarships for community members to attend the three-day, hands-on educational program. Hosted by the College of Agricultural Sciences’ Department of Animal Science in partnership with the American Meat Science Association, Pork 101 is designed to enhance participants’ knowledge of the pork industry.
The 2024 event is scheduled for Oct. 29-31 at Penn State’s University Park campus.
Instructors from Penn State will include Elizabeth Hines, swine extension specialist and assistant professor of animal science; Jonathan Campbell, meat extension specialist and associate professor of animal science; Ben Williamson, assistant teaching professor of animal science with expertise in livestock evaluation; and Robert Mikesell, teaching professor of animal science.
