Annual sunflower festival opens at Mahoning farm
Yenser’s Farm, on Mahoning Drive/Route 902 outside Lehighton, kicked off its annual Sunflower Festival this weekend.
The festival will continue next weekend 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
This year, the festival was moved to their new event facility, Valley View. So even if it rains, there are indoor vendors, gifts, and crafts; sunflowers, and their new refreshment stand is open as well.
Megan Wentz of Lehighton is the event coordinator for Yenser’s.
“We have two pick-your-own sunflower fields,” Wentz offered. “We have the Fun Farm Zone for the kids including the reindeer train, the air cannon, gravity wagon basketball, a sunflower maze featuring 12 photo ops, plus wagon-drawn hayrides.”
Later in August and early September, Yenser’s will once again have a pick-your-own sunflower field closer to the highway along their driveway.
Other events coming up include their Fall Festival in September and October, which will have pumpkin fields and a corn maze, and beginning Black Friday weekend and into December will be their Christmas festivities with Christmas tree sales.
The Sunflower Festival is the first event held in Valley View. The new event space is available for rent for birthday parties, weddings, company events, showers, and more.
