Weissport coffee shop marks anniversary
Zach and Barbara Raub took over running the coffee shop inside the Hofford Mill, 500 Bridge St., in Weissport on July 26, 2023.
It’s called the Hug in a Mug Cafe, next to the Gorge Eatery. The Raub family followed their dream, even if it came early.
“It’s always been a dream of ours,” Zach Raub said. “We thought we would do this closer to retirement age, but it became a reality much sooner.”
A friend of theirs knew the people who owned the cafe and told them that the owners wanted to sell. After giving it some thought, they decided to go for it.
“We like the atmosphere, we love the building, so, we signed on. It’s a great location, we have a large parking lot,” Raub said.
Hug in a Mug cafe gets its three main coffees from Copper Horse Coffee Roasters of Ithaca, New York. They roast three special blends: a light roast, cherry chocolate; a medium roast, almond; and a dark roast, walnut malt.
They offer a wide array of syrups, milks and creamers to add to the coffee flavors, such as almond milk, coconut milk, blueberry, caramel, dulce de leche, hazelnut, honey, lavender, maple spice, peanut butter, spiced brown sugar, toasted marshmallow and other flavors.
It’s not just coffee. They also offer breakfast sandwiches, paninis, gluten-free waffles, avocado toast, bagels, muffins, parfaits, pudding cups and various other beverages like iced tea, hot tea, lemonade, chai tea, smoothies, spritzers and refreshers.
For now, the Raubs just have the shop; but a possible future plan is to be able to take the business on the road to other locations and events.
They offer mobile ordering, and have partnered with DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub; so people just about everywhere can order and have it delivered.
“We even had deliveries go to Schnecksville,” Raub said.
Hug in a Mug Cafe is open Thursday through Monday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. View the menu and order online at their website, www.huginamugcafe.com.
