Four candidates vie for Carbon County Fair Queen
Four candidates will vie for the prestigious title of Carbon County Fair Queen during the 25th annual rendition of the event.
Priscilla Patton, of Albrightsville, Chasity Kibler, of Lehighton, Jocelyn Motola, of Lehighton, and Delaney Erickson, of Palmerton, will compete for the distinction.
Patton, 18, attends Lehigh Carbon Community College and plans to transfer to East Stroudsburg University to become an occupational therapist because she finds joy in helping other people.
She made the dean’s list at LCCC in 2023 and 2024, as well as Honors Program at LCCC in 2024.
Her current activities include varsity volleyball and prom committee, with hobbies being running, working and babysitting.
She is the daughter or Ric and Teresa Patton.
Kibler, 17, is a senior at Carbon Career & Technical Institute who plans to graduate from high school with her CNA and MA and work as a CNA while going to Penn State Schuylkill for her RN.
She wants to be a registered nurse for a few years and then go back to college to be a labor and delivery nurse, and said that she has chosen these plans because she loves helping others, and has wanted to be a nurse since she was young.
She has been a personal care assistant, home health aide and emergency medical technician.
Her current school activities include HOSA competition for nursing, with hobbies being junk car races, and she plan on doing the junk car race and demo at this year’s fair.
She is the daughter of David and Nicole Kibler.
Motola, 16, is a junior at Palmerton Area High School who plays field hockey and wants to go to Pittsburgh for college and to be a farm veterinarian because she likes helping and working with all kinds of animals.
She won the Andrea & Bob Dunn Excellence Award, with current projects being grange cleanup and IronPigs Community Service.
Her affiliations include Mahoning Valley Community 4-H Club and Carbon County 4-H Livestock Club, with hobbies being crafts, animals, and being with family and friends.
She is the daughter of John (III) and Nadine Motola.
Erickson, 16, is a senior at Marian Catholic High School, where she is a member of the cheerleading and swim teams.
She plans to attend college and major in kinesiology to become a physical therapist because she really enjoys sports and exercise, and wants to further her knowledge and help others.
She has been a member of National Honor Society for the past two years, and President’s Education Awards Program for the past two years. She has also been a Future Business Leaders of America state qualifier in 2022 and 2024.
She is also involved with Aevidum, Colts and Fillies for life, middle states, Evanglization team.
Erickson is involved with the Service Days at Sacred Heart Church, The Soup Kitchen in Pottsville, and youth group at church, with her hobbies being swimming, piano, lifeguarding and skiing.
She is the daughter of Kelly Erickson.
The fair committee will host a 25th anniversary ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. Monday, crowning of the fair queen and cake at the conclusion of the ceremony.
Daphne Gowin, who was last year’s runner-up Junior Miss, is a contestant for Junior Miss this year.
