JT wants to double full-day parking fee Sewer, subdivision costs would increase

Jim Thorpe Borough Council plans to vote on three changes to its fee schedule when it meets again on Thursday.

The changes include a hike for the rate of renting a parking kiosk space for an entire day.

“It was the recommendation of our police committee to go from $10 a day to $20 a day,” Police Chief Joe Schatz told council.

The other fee changes deal with sewage plans.

“The on-lot sewage permit has a new design review fee and subdivision has a planning module review in addition to the fee we had in place for field testing,” Borough Manager Maureen Sterner said.

Previously, applicants for an on-lot sewage permit had to pay a $828 fee for new testing. Added will be a design review/permit issuance fee of $120.

The sewage planning module review fee for subdivisions will be $60 per hour.

Council President Greg Strubinger said both are “pass through fees” to cover what the borough pays for the reviews.

“We really haven’t had any applications but we just had one come through and that is when we discovered we missed it in the January fee schedule proposal,” Sterner said.
