Attic treasures sale

First United Methodist Church, 124 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, will hold an “Attic Treasures” sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 17 and 19. Food and baked goods will also be for sale.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Communion will be included during the service. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn includes the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.

The 9 a.m. Aug. 11 service will be held outdoors if weather permits. There will be a Joyous Noise offering.

Barbershop Chorus

The Coalcracker Barbershop Chorus invites folks to attend its practices to learn, listen and sing along.

The group practices from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays at the Tamaqua Arts Center and is looking to expand so it can perform at more community events. The group is open to men and women high school age and older.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will deliver a message of “Enjoying the Family of God” at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service of Calvary Lewistown, which will be held at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. Special music will be provided by April Gerber.

Following the morning service, there will be the annual Calvary Evangelical Sunday school picnic for everyone at the pavilion. Bring a covered dish to share.

Praise and worship and evening vespers will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday from the tabernacle. There will be a prayer gathering at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The Youth Camp Out begins today and finishes Friday with a Bible breakfast. For details, call 570-952-1678.

The camp meeting at the tabernacle begins Aug. 23 through Labor Day with the Revs. Dan and Betsy Taylor of Delaware.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on July 25 with 25 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “New Beginnings.”

The secretary and treasurer reports were accepted. The meeting was closed by Ann Fedor and Jackie Kemmerer.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.
