Tamaqua graduate Casey Rother will join Lehigh University head coach Sean Leary’s staff ahead of the 2025 baseball season.
Rother played collegiately under Leary for five seasons and is one of the most accomplished players in team history, being one of just two Lehigh players to be named First Team All-Patriot League three times. Rother is the program’s all-time leader in home runs (32) and RBIs (168), ranks second in hits (234) and fourth in at bats (723) and doubles (47).
He was a Third Team Collegiate Baseball All-American in 2022, an ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region First Team selection in 2023 and a two-time Patriot League Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022.
“I am thrilled to be back at Lehigh,” said Rother in a release. “Lehigh was a home for me as a player and now it’s a home for me as a coach. I feel incredibly lucky that I’m able to pass on everything I learned as a student and a player to help others have the same great experience I had.”
In 2017, Tamaqua won the District 11 baseball championship and Rother led the team in hitting (.472), on base percentage (.547), home runs (two), hits (34), RBIs (20), slugging percentage (.694) and doubles (10).
Rother finished his career at Tamaqua with 91 hits. He also pitched 43 innings in his career with 54 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.38.
Casey was inducted into the Tamaqua Hall of Fame in 2023.
