Touch-a-Truck

The Western Pocono Community Library, Brodheadsville, is hosting a Touch-a-Truck at 6 p.m. Thursday, rain or shine. Registration is not needed.

OES meeting

A meeting of the Monroe County OES, Chapter No. 99, will be held at the Rimrock Masonic Center at 7 p.m. Thursday. The OES is collecting commemorative stamps for a grand chapter project.

Primetimers meetings

The Primetimers at Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday. For more information, call the church office or Maggie Descartes at 914-774-6302.

On Saturday, the Brotherhood will meet at 9 a.m. in the lower church level.

On Sunday, following the second service, Pray First will meet. Attendees should let the church know what dish attendees will bring for sharing.

Meet the artist

The Kettle Creek Art Gallery is hosting a “Meet the Artist”-Derek Lederer from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The works of Derek Lederer will be on display in the Gallery at Kettle Creek for the month of August. Through his photography, Derek strives to capture not only the physical beauty of birds and wildlife, but also their spirit and essence. He aims to transport viewers into the serene landscapes and intimate moments he’s been privileged to witness through his lens. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, Aug. 3, 10 and 24. Preregistration is not required for this program. Bikers backpacks

Pocono Mountain Harley Davidson had a good complement of bikers and guest at its show this past Saturday, which included stunt-riding shows. Next for the area motorcycle club is a “Kids Fair” from noon to 4 p.m. on Aug. 17 at Pocono Harley Davidson, 110 Hill Motor Lodge Road, Tannersville. All children are welcome and they will be able to pick out a backpack of their choice. If there are enough backpacks left, the club will distribute them at individual schools, although it is assumed by club members that there will not be.

Zinc City Annual

Zinc City Motorcycle Club, Route 209, Kresgeville is holding its 17th Annual Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show with Flea Market on Aug. 4. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon. Show and flea market to 2 p.m. For more information, call 610-570-8411.

No dogs or other pets allowed. Food is take-out only.

There will be door prizes, 50/50, and awards, including Club Choice and People’s Choice. The event is open to: hot rods, muscle cars, rat rods, motorcycles, choppers and more.

Trophies will be awarded in the following categories: Top 5 People’s Choice, Zinc City Member’s Choice, Kid’s Choice (up to 16 years old), Best Motorcycle, Oldest Entry, and Entry driven the farthest. Sunday Church Fun

Salem-St. Paul’s is planning a fun time from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Valley Estate pavilion and pool. The church is providing hot dogs and drinks, families attending are reminded to bring food to share, plus family and friends, towels and sunscreen. There are tennis and basketball courts, playground and horseshoes. If it rains, attendees will play cards and board games in the pavilion.

Prayer shawl

Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl group will meet at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to impact hurting hearts for whatever reason each may have.

Pizza sale

St. John’s Lutheran Church is hosting a “Take and Bake” pizza sale on Aug. 9. To verify cost and place an order, call the church at 570-629-4309 and leave a message with your name, phone number and number of pies. The order deadline is Aug. 4. Pickup and paying for order (cash only) is from 4 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 9 at the church.

Blood drive held

Cornerstone Community Church will be hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive from 1 to 6 p.m. on Aug. 14. People wishing to sign up can do so with the below link, https://redcrossblood.org/give.html/login. Bog photography

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center has announced a Photography in the Bog program from 2 to 4 p.m., Aug. 14. This is an immersive program dedicated to capturing the beauty of avian life and distinctive plant species thriving in wetlands.

Participants are to bring one’s own camera and accessories and/or a smartphone. There is a cost per person. Preregistration is required by calling 570-629-3061. For more information, including directions to the bog and cost, call KCEEC at the above-listed number.

Meet at the Tannersville Bog parking lot: 552 Cherry Lane Road, East Stroudsburg. Directions: Route 611, at the light at the Wawa, turn onto Cherry Lane Road. The bog parking lot is 1.9 miles from 611 on the right.

Lunch reminder

Free summer meal for kids are available from the PVEN Food Pantry from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursdays through Aug. 15. Drive though PVEN any Thursday to pick up five days of free healthy lunches to take home for your child/children. No questions asked, just tell the PVEN how many children you have, and, “We will do the rest.” Call 570-992-3136.
