Day 4
Today was a memorable one to say the least!
Started it off at La Défense Arena and covered Patrick Hussey, UNC’s very own. Not only was I able to witness one of the swimming goats, Katie Ledecky, dominate the 1500m, but I also had the chance to interview her.
After an exciting first part of the day at swimming, we went on to interview Katherine Berkoff’s family before I made my way to the metro to the main press center where a sweet lady from the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee helped me register to get a ticket for the high demand swimming this evening.
Then I headed over to 3x3 basketball — it was really fun seeing this form of basketball for the first time and getting the chance to interview Dearica Hamby, a Wake Forest alum, afterward despite the United States falling to Germany.
But with that came the heat and man, was it a hot one today touching over 95 degrees. I grabbed some ice cream before I made the long trek back to the swimming venue to see some Olympic champions crowned. I got in the venue tonight with no issues and had a front-row seat to some top notch swimming competitions.
Katherine Berkoff earned bronze in the 100m backstroke, her first Olympic medal, and after talking with her in the mixed zone, I finished my story to close out my day of reporting.
