Attorney John Lavelle of Weissport was elected chairman of the Carbon County Chapter of the American Red Cross during the 48th annual chapter meeting held last night in All Saints Episcopal Church, Lehighton.

His associates will be C.M. Swanson Jr., Lehighton, first vice chairman; Stephen Kopunek, Lansford, second vice chairman; June Merkel, Bowmanstown, secretary; and Robert Yori, Lehighton, treasurer.

New members elected to the board are Mrs. George Breslin, John Watto, Mrs. Francis Gerber and Thomas Barr, all of Summit Hill; William Purnis, Bowmanstown; Mrs. Adam Garzyca, Lower Towamensing Township; and William Bechtold, Donald Behler and Robert Dunbar, all of Palmerton.
