In other business during a lengthy special meeting, which included two presentations on rentals in the borough, Lansford council:
• Approved the purchase of the JTNB Remote Deposit Capture from the Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank, which allows for scanning and electronic deposit of checks. The monthly fee is $25.
• Approved a change of the borough checking account with JTNB from a standard account to a Premier Business NOW Account, increasing the interest from 0.10% to 4.5%.
• Approved investing the money in the borough’s Railroad Account in a Certificate of Deposit from JTNB at an interest rate of 5%. The borough plans on investing additional funds after consultation with Lacey Gonzalez of LGH Tax and Accounting.
• Approved the purchase of a security system for the borough building and police station from Security Service Company of Fleetwood for $12,711. The borough secured several quotes, and Security Service Company came in the lowest, Councilwoman Michele Bartek said.
• Approved the final payment of $2,979.17 for the iWorQ to close the software account.
• Hired Brian Kelly and Associates to conduct an audit of the borough tax office at a cost of $3,500. The work could begin in August.
• Accepted the resignation of Joseph Pavlis from the Lansford Borough Civil Service Commission, due to his appointment as borough tax collector.
• Appointed Thomas Dahl as a member of the civil service commission. He was serving as an alternate.
• Advertised for letters of interest for three alternate members for the civil service commission.
