Pleasant Valley board addresses personnel matters

The Pleasant Valley School Board approved several personnel items at its meeting Thursday night, including the retirement of a longtime secretary.

Lorrie Anderson’s retirement became effective July 12. She was the administrative secretary for the Athletic Department.

School board director John Gesiskie, who has been a coach for Pleasant Valley in the past, thanked Anderson for her service to the school district.

“Thank you for her many years of good service. She did an unbelievable job in the Athletic Department, especially in the last five years when we’ve had multiple athletic directors,” Gesiskie said. “I wish her all the best in retirement.”

The board also approved the following items in the Human Resources report:

• Articulation Agreement with Seton Hall University.

• Building volunteers — Lindsay Elias, Nicole Galicia, Bonnie Klingel and Gail Schellman.

• Change to current assignment — Dianne Caretta, custodian, from Pleasant Valley High School to Pleasant Valley Middle School.

• Hiring of professional staff — Samantha Curry, teacher, third grade, Step 9, $64,742; Chelsea Gingras, special education, teacher Step 1, $52,642; Erin O’Farrell, teacher, third grade, Step 1, $52,642, all Pleasant Valley Intermediate School.

• Hiring of support staff — Maria Pastrick, paraprofessional, PVHS, $26,914.

• Intramural advisers– Girls lacrosse fall and winter, Toni Bush, grades 5-6 and 7-12.

• Intramural advisers, weightlifting, Jeremy Goff and Trevor Kresge; tennis, Laura Ammerman; girls basketball, Angelica Zimmerman; boys lacrosse, John Smith, Michael Kaiser and Jeremy Regina; all to receive $1,270.

• Rescind hiring — Michele Goodman, school nurse, PVES.

• Supplemental Contracts: non-athletic for the 2023-24 school year — Summer Remediation PVHS: social studies, Joseph Agolino; English, Danielle Brandes; special education, Jamile Ferrara; science, Talitha Graham; and math, Arianna Weaver, $1,687.50 each.

• Supplemental contracts: non-athletic for the 2024-25 school year — PVHS: Julie Valenzuela, 12th grade class adviser, $2,500; James DeVivo, Jazz Band, Woodwind Ensemble and Music Honor Society, $2,000 and $700 each; Craig Morris, stage manager, Video Club, technology building coordinator and audiovisual building coordinator, $2,900, $640 each, $2,437.50 and $812.50, respectively; Dan Mulligan, drama director fall, musical director spring, $2,900 each; Marcie Mulligan and Donna Morris, drama assistant directors fall and musical assistant directors spring, $2,100 each; Vanessa Fego and Holli Freeman, stage manager assistants, $2,100 each.
