A home was destroyed by fire overnight in the village of Hauto. The blaze was reported around 2 a.m. along Yard street which parallels Route 54 just to the rear of the Hauto fire company.

The Nesquehoning Police were first on scene and reported the two-story single family wood frame structure to be fully involved in flames. Fire companies from Carbon and Schuylkill counties responded to the scene. It was reported the family did manage to escape the flames but two pet dogs were in question. Route 54 is closed to traffic.
