July 23, 1975 — Terri Behr wins two events, including one in record time, at the third annual Carbon-East Schuylkill CYO swimming tournament at the Lehighton community pool. Behr captures first in the girls 11-13 age bracket 50-meter race in 33.6 to break the old record. She also captures the 8-14 year-old diving event. Tamaqua’s Bill Wenzel also sets a new record in winning the boys 11-13 50 meters, touching in 32.0. Other firsts come from Tamaqua’s Sharon Wenzel (girls 8-10 25 meters), JoAnn Fern (girls 14-17 50 meters), Howie Miller (boys 8-10 25 meters) and Steve Price (boys 14-17 50 meters); Palmerton’s Lisa Ferko (girls 15-18 diving) and Ed Rehrig (boys 15-18 diving); and Lehighton’s Gene Miller (boys 8-14 diving).
