So, the latest political campaign slogan is “Make America Safe Again!”

My “Hypocrisy-Alarm” loudly went off as this slogan is coming from the same people who scream and foam at the mouth if they hear the words “gun control legislation.”

To imply that the current White House administration has any influence over the level of firearm violence is just a cheap political gimmick.

The level of firearm-related violence has been steadily increasing in the USA for decades as our lawmakers (Republican and Democrats) and our gerrymandered legal system refuse to reign in the gun manufacturers who sell everything from BB guns to military-level killing devices to anyone who has the money.

Also, the incredible escalation of violence shown on televised and social media has been a major factor in the violence increase.

What also angers me is the mass media “falling all over themselves” to present so much special programming to bullets aimed at a well-known individual when hundreds of children, women and men are wounded or killed daily by firearms — with little mention.

Nothing will change until we, the voters, elect people who are genuinely serious about and committed to public safety.
