Lewistown Valley Garden Club

The Lewistown Valley Garden Club held its June meeting with a garden tour at a home in Pine Grove that featured plants and trees native to the region.

The next meeting will include the annual picnic at noon July 23. Members are asked to note the change in the date from the yearly printed book and the earlier time. Members with last names A-H will bring a covered dish and I -Z will bring a dessert.

St. Peter’s West Penn

The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is at 8 a.m. and includes a congregational vote on the church organ. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. and the church board meets at 10:30 a.m.

Vacation Bible School will be held from 6-8 p.m. July 21-26, and the closing program will be held at 10 a.m. July 28 at West Penn Park.

Zion Lutheran

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

Everyone is welcome to gather in the social hall for the next episode of “The Chosen” at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will share a message of the blessings of the Family of God at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Rd. There will be a special music presentation.

The Sunday evening praise and worship will be held at 7 p.m. at the tabernacle.

The prayer gathering will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Call for location.

The Youth Camp Out will be held Aug. 1-2 with a sleepover for Bible breakfast. For details, call 570-952-1678.

On Aug. 4, the Calvary Evangelical Sunday family all-day school picnic will be held in the pavilion following services. For details and what food to bring to share, call Sue at 570-668-3359. Vesper service will be at 5 p.m. Aug. 4 with Pastor Kim.

The camp meeting at the tabernacle begins Aug. 23 and continues through Labor Day.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on July 11 with 20 members present.

The president opened the meeting with the invocation, “Now and Forever.”

Karen Reed was added to the sick list. A basket of candy and American flag were chanced off and won by Gladys Arner.

Mary Ann Fisher and Mary Taylor celebrate July birthdays.

A picnic catered by Hess Catering will be held at noon Aug. 8. Bingo and games were played.
