The Rev. William D. Mitchell was installed as pastor of St. John’s Towamensing United Church of Christ, Palmerton, last evening at impressive ceremonies at the church.

He was installed by the Rev. George W. Bickel, pastor of the Weissport-Walnutport Charge and president of the Blue Mountain Association. Dr. William Longsdorf, conference minister of the Penn Northeast Conference, was the liturgist. John Parsons, president of the consistory, presented the new pastor for installation.

The new pastor is married and the father of three children, William, David and Amy. He is a 1954 graduate of the Andover-Newton Theological Seminary and has served two parishes in the conference, the last being St. John’s UCC in St. Johns.
