Carbon County officials are hoping that the second time will be the charm in the first movie at the lake.

On Thursday, Commissioners’ Chairman Michael Sofranko reminded residents that as part of the 50th anniversary of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, movies on the beach will be held this Saturday and next month.

The initial first night for the event in June was postponed due to weather so the movie for Saturday will be the animated movie “Migration.”

The movie begins at approximately 8:40 p.m. and residents who attend are asked to bring blankets or lawn chairs.

Admission is free to the event and is open to all county residents.
