Germansville teen dies in Lynn Twp. crash
A 16-year-old boy from Germansville, who would have been entering his junior year in September at Northwestern Lehigh High School, died on Tuesday night in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Township, of injuries he suffered in a crash on June 23 in Lynn Township.
Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said Tucker J. Wessner was pronounced dead at 11:42 p.m. in the hospital. An autopsy was performed at the facility on Thursday and Buglio said the cause and manner of death are pending.
State police at the Fogelsville barracks said Wessner was riding on the tailgate of a 2011 Toyota Tundra when he fell from it and struck the ground.
They said the truck was operated at the time by a 17-year-old boy, who had an 18-year-old boy in the passenger’s seat of the truck.
Police said as the truck was traveling south on Leaser Road and made a left turn onto Follweiler Court, the 16-year-old fell out of the truck. They said the boys tried to render medical assistance at the scene until personnel from the Cetronia Ambulance arrived.
Police said the crash remains under investigation by the Fogelsville barracks’ patrol unit, who are being assisted by the county district attorney’s and coroner’s office and the ambulance personnel.
Police are requesting anyone who may have witnessed the crash or observed the vehicle prior to the crash to contact them at 610-395-1438 and reference Incident Number PA24-935379.
