Concourse Club recognizes Lehigh Gap Nature Center

The Concourse Club of Palmerton recently presented The Lehigh Gap Nature Center with a $100 check for the center’s work in conservation and support of the community.

The check was presented by Susan Prout, Concourse Club Conservation Chair, on June 14 to Chad Schwartz, Executive Director of the nature center. The Concourse Club annually supports a local organization as part of its efforts to encourage environmental conservation within our community.

The Lehigh Gap Nature Center has transformed 400 acres of superfund land within their 756 acres of natural environment and hiking trails. Included in their property is The Osprey House, a building that has an information desk and gift ship, an event space and a lab space in the basement that houses educational equipment.

The nature center provides a wide range of educational programs and works closely with the local school districts to provide field trips to students grades 3-6. Programs are not limited to students, however, many adult programs are offered throughout the year.

For more information on the nature center, visit www.lgnc.org.

The Concourse Club is a women’s service organization that has been serving the Palmerton community since 1915.
