Monday bingo

The American Legion in Gilbert is again hosting bingo night on Monday. It is an open to community event. Doors open for ticket sales at 6:30 p.m. Play time begins at 7 p.m. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Tuesday meeting

The West End Republican Club will be holding its next regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. July 23, instead of the usual time. The group meets at Cherry’s Family Restaurant in Kresgeville.

Queen of Peace VBS

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is hosting its Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon, July 22-26.

There is no registration fee. Registration forms are available on the church’s website and at the church office and the bulletin stations.

Adult volunteers are always needed for props and activities. Clearances may be required.

Legion Sons meet

The Sons of the American Legion will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Post 927 Legion Hall in Gilbert. For more information, call 610-681-5838.

PVAG VBS

The Great Journey Vacation Bible School will be held at Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., July 29 through Aug. 1, for children 4 years old to entering 6th grade in the fall.

Free movies return

The Fourth Friday Free Family Fun Films will be held at St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg on July 26 and Aug. 23. The movies will be shown beginning at dusk outside the church.

The July movie is “Second Hand Lions.”

The public is welcome.

Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket.

St. Peter’s UMC is located at 924 Route 115, Saylorsburg.

Kids’ free meals

Free summer meal for kids are available from the PVEN Food pantry Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., through Aug.15.

Drive to the PVEN on Rt. 209 any Thursday to pick up 5 days of free healthy lunches to take home for your child/children.

No questions asked, just tell the PVEN how many children need the meals.

Special musicians

St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will welcome the women’s chorus of Adult and Teen Challenge on July 28 during its 9 a.m. worship service. The choir welcomes the public to hear their testimonies and to realize the dependency on substances is no match for the power of Christ to overcome them.

All are welcome.

Pavilion program

The Mette Family Catholic Band will be performing at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, at 7 p.m. July 30, in the pavilion.

Turkey survey

The PA Game Commission is again seeking input from the public in surveying wild turkeys this summer, now through Aug. 31. Report sightings through the Game Commission’s website.

Pizza sale

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effort, is hosting a “Take and Bake” pizza sale on Aug. 9.

To place an order call church at 570-629-4309 and leave a clear message with your name, phone number and number of pies. The order deadline is Aug. 4.

Pick-up and pay — cash only — is at the church between 4 and 5 p.m., Aug. 9, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 164 Merwinsburg Road, Effort.
