July 15, 1949 — Gene Ambrose and Marty Marek both drill home runs to help Coaldale gain a 10-2 Panther Valley League victory over Lansford. Ambrose finishes with a pair of hits and three runs for the winners, who break a tie game with five runs in the sixth inning. Marek adds two runs, while Andy Yarosky adds a double and a run. Starting pitcher Lou Brida allows one runs in four innings, while reliever Bill Koperna goes the final five frames and gives up just one run to earn the victory. Koperna also chips in with a hit and a run at the plate. For Lansford, Eddie Gildea ends with a pair of hits.
