The Schuylkill County Democratic Committee released a statement in reaction to the shooting incident where former President Donald Trump was injured.

Todd Zimmerman, chairman, said, the committee “strongly condemns ALL forms of political violence. Candidates should be able to assemble freely as a form of freedom of speech. Americans should feel safe attending political rallies, church services, and musical concerts. We need to dial back the rhetoric on both sides, and fight this battle at the ballot box as we have for over two centuries.”

Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry also issued a statement:

“I am deeply disturbed by this act of violence that has absolutely no place in the Commonwealth or anywhere. My regards are with the families who will be forever impacted by this heinous act.”

She added that she is in contact with our law enforcement partners and “will work cooperatively with them.”
