Local roundup: Results from July 10

Elsewhere, Towamensing rolled to a big win in the Panther Valley 11-12-year-old Little League Tournament.

Catasauqua-Palmerton

Palmerton secured double-digit victories for the first time since 2019 with a 6-5 win over Catasauqua in Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack play.

After building a 2-0 lead through three innings, the Bombers scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth after Catasauqua had put up five in the top of the inning. Lucian Sterling singled and Mason Becker walked, each scoring two runs. Brady Reph walked in the first to score a run, and Gaige McGowan had an RBI double in the third. Corey Serfass went 2-for-2 for the winners with a walk and a run scored. Reph tossed three scoreless innings of relief, striking out three and allowing three hits to earn the win.

Palmerton finishes the season 10-7 and will wait for its opening round matchup of the playoffs next week.

Asael Gonzales had a three-run double to help Catasauqua (7-9-1) take a 5-2 lead in the top of the fourth. Gonzales finished 2-for-4.

Wolfpack-Franklin Twp.

Big days from both Landon Abelovsky and Zoltan Bedocs led Franklin Township to a 7-1 win over Wolfpack in its Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack regular season finale.

Abelovsky went 3-for-3 with three singles, two RBIs and two runs scored. Bedocs was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Carter Bellis earned the win on the mound, striking out seven while scattering nine hits over six innings with just an unearned run allowed.

Franklin Township finishes the regular season 12-5 and will prepare for the league playoffs next week.

Owen Mera and Andrew Simon each had two hits for Wolfpack (5-11).

Towamensing-Anthracite

Towamensing rolled to a 20-0 win against Anthracite to open the Panther Valley 11-12-year-old Little League Tournament.

Luke Machalik, Charlie Borger and Cole Collins each had three hits for Towamensing, which scored 12 runs in the top of the fourth inning. Machalik had a triple, double, four runs scored and an RBI, Borger had a double, two RBIs and three runs scored and Collins finished with two RBIs and two runs scored. Cade Serfass had a double and a home run, and finished with three RBIs and two runs scored. Dillon Welsh also had two hits with an RBI and a run scored. Machalik struck out eight in three hitless innings on the mound. Serfass struck out two in one inning of relief.

Jake Seitz had a hit for Anthracite.
