Carbon recognizes corrections professionals

Carbon County commissioners encourage residents to recognize community corrections professionals as they proclaim July 21 to 27, as Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week.

The commissioners on Thursday welcomed Janene Holter, the county’s chief adult probation officer; her chief deputy, Joseph Berke; and juvenile probation officers Janelle Ondrus and Gavin Malampy to their meeting.

Holter thanked the commissioners and the court for their support, as well as her chief deputy.

“We are trying to make some changes in adult probation and move the probation department into a more successful evidence-based practices office,” said Holter, who started in the office in April.

“Thank you so much for your support and helping our office,” she said. “Without you, it wouldn’t be possible.”

Ondrus also thanked the commissioners on behalf of the juvenile probation office.

“I want to thank you for recognizing us,” she said. “We work hard to try to keep the youth successful in Carbon County.”

Community corrections professionals, such as Ondrus, supervise adult and juvenile offenders in the community, provide services and promote prevention, intervention and advocacy.
