PSP Bethlehem — crashes

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following crashes:

• A Palmerton man and two passengers in his vehicle were uninjured when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a 2007 Ford Expedition on Route 22 in South Whitehall Township at 7:32 p.m. June 15.

Police said Daniel J. Labombard, 65, was operating a 2017 Ford F-150 eastbound when the Expedition failed to merge safely into the left lane and struck the F-150. Police said the driver of the Expedition fled the area without exchanging information with Labombard.

• Hector Martinez, 38, of Bethlehem, is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a three-vehicle crash at 5:24 p.m. May 24 at the intersection of Route 22 and the Nazareth Pike in Bethlehem Township. Police said he showed signs of impairment at the scene involving a 2018 Honda Civic, a 2003 Nissan Frontier and a 2022 Ford Escape.

They identified the others involved in the incident as a 43-year-old woman from Easton and a 55-year-old man from Saylorsburg.

• Bonita E. Hewitt, 71, of Slatington, was cited for a two-vehicle crash at 6:02 p.m. June 265 on East Grant Street in Washington Township. No one was injured in the incident. Police said she was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala westbound when she failed to drive within the lane and the car struck the rear of a trailer attached to a 2016 Ford F250 that was legally-parked on the right side of the roadway. Police said the Impala was towed from the scene.

• Sharon L. Fields, 67, of Slatedale, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 8:54 p.m. June 26 on Mountain Road in Washington Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Northern Valley Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. They said the severity of her injuries is unknown.

Police said she was driving a 1998 Jeep eastbound when she lost control of it while negotiating a left turn. It crossed into the oncoming lane, exited the roadway and struck a dirt embankment before rolling onto its driver’s side and flipping into the wooded area. She was cited for the crash, police said.

• Linda D. Youngblood, 75, of Treichlers, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 3:26 p.m. June 26 on State Route 145 in North Whitehall Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Northampton Regional Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem. They said the severity of her injuries is unknown.

Police said she was driving a 2018 Ford Escape northbound when she lost control of it and it struck a telephone pole.

Police said she was cited for the crash.

• Angela L. Weidner, 57, of Emerald, was involved in a one-vehicle crash at 6:53 p.m. June 26 on Hawk View Road in Heidelberg Township.

Police said she was driving a 2020 Kia Sportage south when it struck a downed tree in the road. No one was injured in the crash.

• Thomas Chabak, 63, of Schnecksville, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a one-vehicle crash at 2:29 a.m. June 12 at the intersection of Sand Spring Road and Main Street in North Whitehall Township. Police said he was driving a 2007 Toyota in the crash, after which time he showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody.

• Dolores J. Petrosky, 71, of Orefield, was involved in a two-vehicle crash at 7:08 p.m. June 12 at the intersection of Main Street (Route 309) and Education Park Drive in North Whitehall Township.

Police said she was driving a 2019 Jeep Compass that was struck in the rear by a vehicle after which time the driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene. Police said both vehicles left the scene under their own power.

• Thomas F. Bennis, 78, of Middleport, sustained suspected serious injuries in a three-vehicle crash at 2:58 p.m. June 18, on U.S. Route 22 in Whitehall Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Cetronia Ambulance Corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township.

Also injured in the incident was Timothy A. Young Jr., 21, of Allentown, who was also taken by the ambulance corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital. Police said he had “possible injuries.”

The third driver was Mohammed Ekbaluddin, 44, of Allentown. He was not hurt. Police did not provide the details of the crash, but did say Bennis was wearing a motorcycle helmet and Young had used his safety belt improperly.
