Road closed

The Kunkletown Road. at Fiddletown/Kleintop Road is closed for bridge replacement.

The road will be closed for several months. Truck traffic is detoured via Weir Lake Road.

Local traffic can use the Fiddletown/Kleintop detour.

Legion events

American Legion Post 927 Auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. tonight at the Post home in Gilbert.

Post 927 Legion members will meet at 6:30 a.m. Guests are welcome.

The American Legion Riders will host its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m., Sunday.

On Monday, the public is invited to play bingo beginning at 7 p.m. Card sales begin at 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday’s activity is the VALOR PTSD support meeting, beginning at 7 p.m.

Fegley featured

The work of Caroline Fegley will be featured in the art gallery at the Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center this

Saturday. All are invited to come and check out her work.

The art show with her “Blirb Studios-Wildlife Art” will be at the gallery at Kettle Creek, open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, but this Saturday it will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Fegley has done work with organizations such as Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, Hawk Watch International, and Veracruz Rio de Rapaces as a raptor researcher.

Her methodology usually does not include painting directly from photos, but recalling the experience and emotion of standing in nature.

Pocono Raceway

Long Pond will abound with traffic and noise this weekend as the Pocono Raceway hosts its annual race.

Operation Touch of Home will be at the Pocono Race July 12-14, sharing the word of what OTH is and what it does for the Troops.

The group’s hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m., July 12; 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Bugfest 2024

On Saturday, Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center will celebrate Bugfest 2024. It is to be co-hosted by Kettle Creek and Monroe County 4-H Insects Are Us Club.

There is a cost for children ages 3 to 12. Pre-registration is required and limited.

Come dressed as a favorite bug and receive a discount on the admission price.

Parents can attend for free.

Ross Township Police Department is sponsoring a fishing tournament at Evergreen Park on Saturday and Sunday. It is sponsored by the Ross Township police Department, Ross Township Parks & Rec.

Our Lady Queen of Peace has announced a community Red Cross blood drive for 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Parish Hall.

JT trolley tour

The Primetimers of Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, is going on a Trolley Tour on July 12 in Jim Thorpe.

Community Fest

The second Annual Community Fest is back on the grounds of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, Saylorsburg, from 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday. The public is invited to connect with local nonprofit organizations for information and services.

Children will have a host of activities to engage their creativity and skills. All will enjoy the outdoor Christian music supplied by Freely Given and The Make a Joyful

Noise Country Gospel Band musicians.

Guests are reminded to bring a lawn chair or blanket. There is no charge for the activities.

The church is located at 924 Route 115 Saylorsburg, next to Dollar General.

Free dinner held

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, is hosting its next free community dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. next Wednesday.

It is in drive-through format.
