Washington Township supervisors set a September deadline for an update to the municipality’s zoning.
Last week, supervisors approved the public hearing for the comprehensive rewrite of the zoning ordinance, update of the zoning map and official map in accordance with the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code to be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 3.
The supervisors also approved for the 45-day review and comment period for the zoning ordinance, zoning map and the official map with comments to be given in person and not electronically to start on July 19.
Other matters
• Approved to hire Mellissa Lilly to maintain the bathrooms at the Slatedale Park for $220 a month.
• Approved to get bids for the walking path at the Eagles Nest Park.
• Released the $1,000 donation to the Emerald Playground Association for upgrades.
• Joe Mead, the Emergency Management coordinator, asked that everyone be prepared for hurricane season. Mead inquired if there is a backup generator for the diesel fuel pump. He was told there is one.
• Director for Northern Valley Ambulance, Kristie Wentling, reported they got $44,406 from Lehigh County for power stair chairs to aid in ambulance calls. Nova is looking to hire a full-time paramedic for night shift. Visit www.northernvalleyems.com for application and all job openings.
