Carbon County Court - guilty pleas

The following people entered guilty pleas in the Court of Common Pleas of Carbon County:

Christopher Scott Kirk, 58, of Weatherly, pleaded guilty to recklessly endangering another, unlawful restraint causing serious bodily injury, terroristic threats, strangulation and simple assault. He was sentenced by Carbon County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Matika to 1 month to 1 year at the Carbon County Correctional Facility and must complete 50 hours community service to the state. All charges are to run consecutively.

Amanda Hosier, 41, of Weissport, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence: controlled substance - impaired ability-second offense. She was sentenced by Matika to 90 days imprisonment in the Carbon County Correctional Facility and assessed a $1,500 fine. She must also complete 100 hours of community service and surrender driving privileges for 18 months.

John L. Stefanik, 63, of Summit Hill, pleaded guilty to a charge of simple assault. Judge Roger Nanovic sentenced him to serve 2 months at the Carbon County Correctional Facility and ordered Stefanik to have no contact with the individual he assaulted. • Lauren Cassandra Walck, 33, of Lansford, pleaded guilty to recklessly endangering another person. Nanovic sentenced her to 1 year of probation. • James P. McDonald Jr., 45, of Lansford, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and harassment. As part of his sentence, Nanovic imposed a $150 fine and ordered McDonald to pay restitution totaling $2,251.80 within 10 days. • Dana Ann Fox, 53, of Lansford, pleaded guilty to three separate charges of retail theft. Nanovic sentenced her to 3 months of imprisonment in the Carbon County Correctional Facility and mandated restitution payments totaling $1,108.21 to both Lowes and Walmart. Additionally, Fox was banned from both stores until the completion of her sentence. • Danielle Neff, 35, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty to retail theft. Nanovic sentenced her to 30 months of probation and ordered Neff to pay $158.73 in restitution. She will remain banned from Walmart until she completes her sentence. • Dawn Wooten, 55, of Lansford, pleaded guilty to simple assault. Nanovic sentenced her to 2 years of adult probation and directed Wooten to undergo a mental health evaluation within 30 days. • Melinda Suzette Cardell, 63, of Slatington, pleaded guilty to retail theft. Nanovic allowed her to complete the ARD program and ordered Cardell to pay $46.70 in restitution. Additionally, she was banned from Walmart until the completion of her sentence. • Kelly Ann Duch, 45, of Walnutport, pleaded guilty to retail theft. Nanovic sentenced her to 2 years of adult probation and ordered Duch to pay $594.42 in restitution. She was also banned from Lowes until the completion of her sentence. • Nathan Michael Miller, 24, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty to carrying firearms without a license. Nanovic sentenced him to serve a minimum of 3.5 years to a maximum of 7 years imprisonment at the Carbon County Correctional Facility. • Terrel Lindsay Knight, 23, of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of an access device. Nanovic sentenced Knight to 1 year of adult probation. • Eriel Ochai Jenkins, 29, of Bellerose, NY, pleaded guilty to DUI involving controlled substance impairment as a first offense. Matika sentenced him to 72 hours imprisonment at the Carbon County Correctional Facility, with 7 days credited for time served. Jenkins was also required to complete an outpatient rehab program and surrender his driver’s license for one year. • Yofreiny Carion-Tavarez, 23, of Shenandoah, pleaded guilty to forgery and three charges of retail theft. Nanovic sentenced Carion-Tavarez to imprisonment at the Carbon County Correctional Facility for a term ranging from 9 months to 5 years. Additionally, he was ordered to pay restitution of $589.99 and was banned from Lowes for the duration of his sentence.
