Local roundup: Results from July 1

Franklin Township advanced to the final of the District 18 10-12-year-old Little League Tournament with a victory on Monday.

Franklin also earned a win in Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack play.

Franklin Township cruised into the championship of the District 18 10-12-year-old tournament with an 11-1 win over Valley East.

Carter Spotts had a double among his two hits and scored twice for Franklin, which led 5-0 after the first inning. Miles Mann and Roman White had two hits with two RBIs and a run scored. Myles Meek and Jacoby Andrews each had a hit and two RBIs for the winners. Owen Moyer allowed two hits and struck out six in four innings of work to earn the win.

Jake Lewis dominated on the mound and Franklin Township rolled to a 6-0 win over Catasauqua in Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack action.

Lewis struck out seven and allowed just one hit in seven innings of work for Franklin (10-4). Pierce Goida paced Franklin with two RBIs. Carter Bellis had two hits, while Landon Abelovsky stole three bases.

Joey Conway had a hit for Catasauqua (6-7-1).

Northern Vy.-So. Parkland

Two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning helped South Parkland claim a 4-3 win over Northern Valley in Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack play.

Andrew Bowser doubled, which helped South Parkland (13-2) tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh. Bowser advanced to third when Benjamin Taylor reached on an error and scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch. Carter Wanamaker doubled with an RBI and finished with two hits for the winners.

Cole Dynda had two hits for Northern Valley (9-2). Jayden Christman doubled.

Palmerton-Hellertown

A huge fifth inning helped Hellertown claim a 13-1 win over Palmerton in Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack action.

Hellertown scored eight runs in the decisive frame. Landon Huber singled, scoring a run and Brady Flores doubled to score three runs. Flores finished with four RBIs. Huber finished with three hits for Hellertown (6-6-2), which drew 10 walks. Anthony Salgado surrendered one hit and one unearned run, striking out three in five innings.

Jared Grammes had the lone hit for the Bombers (7-6).
