Coroner releases report on Jim Thorpe man

Carbon County Coroner Mark K. Smith released a report Tuesday on the body of a Jim Thorpe man found in the Lehigh River.

The identity of has been confirmed as Felix Dejesus Jr. of Jim Thorpe, who was reported missing. He was last spoken to on Thursday, according to social media reports.

A kayaker found the body Monday and he was pronounced dead at 1:17 p.m. by Carbon County Deputy Coroner Dave Stianche.

An autopsy has just concluded and the results are pending toxicology testing.

According to GPS studies, Smith said it has been determined the body was recovered from an area in Mahoning Township, down the river from the sewage plant in Jim Thorpe.

Along with the Carbon County Coroners Office, the incident is being investigated by the Carbon County District Attorneys Office, The Pa. State Police-Lehighton and the Jim Thorpe Police Department.

Assisting with the recovery efforts were The Jim Thorpe Fire Department along with water rescue services of the Lehighton Fire Department.
