Missing Jim Thorpe man’s body found near river

Police have released details in the investigation of a body found at about 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Lehighton Criminal Investigation Unit were

called to the scene at the Lehigh River in the area of Jim Thorpe borough.

The man was identified as Felix DeJesus, 33, of Jim Thorpe. He was previously entered as a missing endangered person by the Jim Thorpe Police Department.

The body was located just down river from the sewage treatment plant in Jim Thorpe.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police said there are no public safety concerns or danger to any community members.

The Carbon County Coroners Office pronounced the man dead at 1:17 p.m.

Along with the Carbon County Coroners Office, the incident is being investigated by the Carbon County District Attorney/s Office, The Pa. State Police-Lehighton and the Jim Thorpe Police Department.

Assisting with the recovery efforts were The Jim Thorpe Fire Department along with water rescue services of the Lehighton Fire Department.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine cause and manner of death.
