Tamaqua Attorney D. Michael Stine was confirmed by the Pennsylvania Senate yesterday as the newest member of the Court of Common Pleas in Schuylkill County.
All 50 senators voted in favor of the confirmation, after which time Sen. James Rhoades introduced the new judge to his colleagues.
Stine, a Democrat, will succeed Judge John E. Lavelle, who reached the mandatory retirement age of 70 on Jan. 23. Schuylkill County voters will elect a judge to a full 10-year term in November 1991.
Stine, 42, lives in the Owl Creek section of Tamaqua with his wife, the former Joan L. Miller, and their three children, Michael, 10, Matthew, 7, and Theresa, 4.
He is a graduate of the Temple University School of Law.
