Ross Fishing event
On July 13 and 14, at Evergreen Park, the 2024 Ross Township Fishing Tournament will take place. It is sponsored by the Ross Township Police Department, Ross Township Parks & Rec.

Bugfest ahead
On July 13, Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center will celebrate Bugfest, as co-hosted by Kettle Creek and Monroe County 4-H Insects Are Us Club.
The day will be filled with educational stations all about those creepy crawly friends. There will be several stations to learn all about bugs.
There will also be a skit by the Insects Are Us Club followed by Insect Olympics Games in the field taking place at 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. Participants for the afternoon session can enjoy the release of the monarch and painted lady butterflies at the end of the day.
There is a cost for attending for children ages 3 to 12. Preregistration is required and limited.
Come dressed as a favorite bug and receive a discount on the admission price. Parents can attend for free.

Blood drive coming
Our Lady Queen of Peace has announced a community Red Cross blood drive for 1 to 6 p.m., July 16.

Waterfall adventure
Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center has announced its Waterfall Adventure Trip to Finger Lakes.
The bus trip to the Finger Lakes region of New York is set for Aug. 27 to 29. On this trip, there will be tent camping for two nights and spending days exploring and swimming near waterfalls, kayaking on a lake, and hiking Watkins Glen Gorge Trail.
The kayaking and hiking portions of this trip will be moderate in difficulty and are not intended for beginners. The minimum age for this trip is 18.
