Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on June 20 with 28 members present.

The basket raffle was held and was a great success. Refreshments were served.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will bring the message of Love of Christ and celebrating the beauty of America at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Rd., Tamaqua. There will be special music but no Sunday evening service. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m.

There will be a prayer gathering at 7 p.m. July 3. Call 570-225-6007 for the location.

St. Peter’s West Penn

The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s in West Penn will be held at 9 a.m., with Sunday school to follow at 10:15 a.m.

On July 7, the 10 a.m. Sunday worship services features the Sacrament of Holy Communion and a church organ information presentation.

Barbershop Chorus

The Coalcracker Barbershop Chorus invites folks to attend its practices to learn, listen, and sing along. The group practices from 7:30-9 p.m. every Monday at the Tamaqua Arts Center and is looking to expand so it can perform at more community events and share the gift of barbershop singing.

The group is open to men and women high school age and older.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

All children are invited to the combined vacation Bible school from July 8-12 from 6-8:15 p.m. at Lewistown Valley Tabernacle.

Andreas VFW

The Andreas VFW will meet at 7 p.m. July 10 at West Penn Park.

The post will have a luncheon at Leiby’s Restaurant at 11 a.m. July 20. All paid up members and one guest are invited.

Luncheon

An “America the Beautiful” luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. July 16 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 101 Graeff St., Cressona.

Jean Bisnett of Chesapeake, Virginia, will speak about “The Best is Yet to Come” and special music will be provided by Makayla Scharadin of Port Carbon.

Attendees are asked to bring school supplies to donate to local schools, and a local teacher will share classroom stories.

There is a fee. The event is sponsored by the Pottsville Christian Women’s Club.
