A late run helped Towamensing earn a victory in the District 18 10-12-year-old Little League Tournament Wednesday.

Towamensing prevailed for a 2-1 win over Freeland.

An RBI groundout by Brody Mertz on a hard hit ball to third base broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the fourth inning to give Towamensing the lead. A single by Nicholas Zulic helped Towamensing tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the third. Zulic, Jake Collins, and Brady Ivancich each collected one hit for Towamensing. Luke Machalik started for Towamensing and recorded six outs over two innings, striking out four. Zulic and Zack Zelinsky each came on in relief for Towamensing and shutdown Freeland to secure the win.

A solo home run to left field by Mason P. put Freeland on the board in the bottom of the first inning.

Cole Schaffer tossed a two-hit shutout to lead Moore Township to a 5-0 five-inning win over Franklin Township in Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack play.

Schaffer struck out six in the win for Moore Township (8-2). Brayden Giandomenico was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Charles Burrell had a double and three RBIs.

Cole Dietz doubled, and Aiden Solt added the other hit for Franklin (8-4).
