Eldred Township supervisors

Eldred Township conducted the following business this month:

• A grant of $92,000 was received towards the Old Stone Arch Bridge repair. The overall project will cost close to $1 million.

• Scott Clark was voted in as vice chair of the Eldred Township Supervisors at the June meeting. Susan McGinty was voted as an alternate for the Pocono Mountain Council of Government.

• A bid of 3.1 cents per gallon was approved for oil from Midland Asphalt.

• Bruce George’s bid of $118,721.12 was approved for paving, contingent upon assurance of minimum wage rate.

• The Eldred Township Historical Society received bids for the roof of the historic post office: metal ($15,950) and shingle ($17,000). A decision will be made about which type of roof will be installed.

• A draft of the proposed zoning amendment regarding warehouses will be sent to the planning commission. Truck distribution centers are non-permitted use in the township but warehouses are allowed with conditional use in industrial zones.

• The Kunkletown fire company reported four calls for May and 22 year-to-date.

• A resident put in a request to have a community garden. More detailed information will be gathered to see if it is feasible.

• A FCC “letter of concurrent” was approved that the Township use the same radio channel as the Dallas Correctional Facility with a stipulation that no “harmful radio interference” occurs.
