The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission announced closures in both directions on the Northeast Extension (I-476) in Carbon County between Mahoning Valley (Exit 74) and Route 903 (Exit 87) from noon to 6 a.m. Sunday. The planned closure is required for bridge work.

During the closure, traffic will be directed off the Turnpike and drivers can use the following suggested detours to get back on the Turnpike:

Northbound: Route 903 South 10.4 miles, Route 209 North 6.4 miles, re-enter at the Mahoning Valley Interchange #A74.

Pennsylvania State Police and Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers.

Digital message signs will also provide information on this closure.
