Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported crashes that happened on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• Vincent Morozin Jr., 76, and Patricia A. Morozin, 75, both of Albrightsville, were involved in a two-vehicle crash at 4:36 p.m. June 17 at mile marker 73.3 in East Penn Township.

They were transported by the Palmerton Community Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

Police said Jose Pinhero, 53, of Reading, driving a 2023 International northbound, crossed lanes and struck a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Vincent Morozin, who was also northbound.

They said the Silverado spun in front of the International and hit the guide railing.

• Richard Vasquez, 63, of Spring Hill, was in a crash at 10:22 p.m. June 16 at mile marker 94.6 in Kidder Township.

Police said he was driving a 2020 Freightliner northbound and was attempting to negotiate a single exit lane, left-hand curve downhill when he lost control of it. Its trailing unit became detached, coming to rest on an embankment.

Police said the trailing unit was towed from the scene.

• Clarence R. Bain III, 55, of Delran, New Jersey, was injured in a crash at 5 p.m. June 9 on the exit ramp of the Pocono Interchange in Kidder Township.

Police said he was flown to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township.

Police said he was driving a 2020 Freightliner at a high rate of speed on the exit ramp. They said he lost control of the vehicle on the curve, left the road, traveled up a steep embankment and rolled over, coming down the embankment and spilling its cargo. The ramp was shut down for more than five hours.

They said before the crash police received calls from motorists who reported the vehicle was traveling in an erratic manner.

Police said Bain was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
