State police at Hazleton

State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following crashes:

• Lois M. Mlynek, 65, and Richard F. Mlynek, 68, both of Barnesville, were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:54 p.m. May 28 on Route 93 in Hazle Township.

Police said they were transported by personnel from the American Patient Transport Services to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, after the crash. They said the severities of their injuries are unknown.

The crash happened when Gurjant Singh, 31, of Fresno, California, driving a 2023 Freightliner near the intersection of the Laurel Mall, struck a 2014 Chevrolet Impala driven by Lois Mlynek, who was stopped at a red light.

Police said Singh was cited for following too closely.

• Alex Altagracia-Tavarez, 35, of West Hazleton, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a crash at 4:02 a.m. June 17 on Interstate 80 in White Haven. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla eastbound when it struck a deer. The car was towed from the scene.

• Kayla J. Tanner, 21, of Hazle Township, was involved in a crash at 12:56 p.m. June 11 on Airport Road in Hazle Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.

They said the crash occurred when she was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. The Corolla struck a 2010 Nissan Sentra driven by Diann M. Bott, 68, of Nuremberg. She was uninjured.

Police said Tanner was cited for stop signs/yield signs.

Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.

• Rodney O. McNeil 47, of Middletown, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 6:31 a.m. June 12 on Interstate 81 in Hazle Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2020 Freightliner too fast when it overturned on its side. Police said the rig’s cargo, a large amount of Hershey chocolate, spilled onto the roadway and shoulder of the road.

The rig had to be uprighted and towed from the scene, police said.
