State police at Hazleton

State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 35-year-old woman from Harleigh was cited for simple trespass after police were called to an incident at 7:45 p.m. June 5 on Route 940 in Hazle Township.

The other person involved is a 35-year-old woman from Freeland who said the woman from Harleigh entered her residence without consent.

• Police were called to a criminal mischief incident at 4:23 p.m. June 13 on Oak Hill Road, Packer Township.

They said the person who reported the incident said sometime over night between June 12-13 an unknown person spray-painted the tire and rim of the victim’s 2004 Subaru Outback. The damages are estimated at $200.

• Richard Hall, 59, of Hazle Township, was cited for public drunkenness after an incident on the CANDO highway in Hazle Township at 9:19 p.m. June 12.

Police said they observed him lying in the road in a highly-intoxicated state.

• Richard Melo Mejia, 47, of Hazle Township, was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop police conducted at 9:27 p.m. May 18 on Fishers Hill Avenue in Hazle Township.

He was stopped in a 2023 Toyota for a summary traffic violation.

• Police are investigating the theft of a 1992 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was reported at 6:38 a.m. June 13, from 407 Ferrara Avenue, Hazle Township.

The owner said the cycle was stolen between 5 p.m. June 12 and 6:30 a.m. June 13 while it was parked in the driveway of his home, covered with two tarps.

• A 27-year-old Hazleton man is involved in a theft by deception/identity theft incident police were called to at 10 p.m. June 11 in Hazle Township.

The man reported someone used his identity to apply for loans.

• A 67-year-old Tamaqua man reported a burglary that police were called to on June 8 on East 23rd Street in Hazle Township.

Police said he reported someone gained entry to his garage and stole copper piping worth $1,000 while damaging pipe for a boiler worth $500 before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.

• A 43-year-old woman from Sugarloaf and a 26-year-old man from Wilkes-Barre are involved in an incident police were called to at 5:40 p.m. June 7 on the Weston Road, Black Creek Township.

Police said a 34-year-old woman from Sugarloaf was cited for harassment by physical contact after she punched one of the other people involved. Police said the driver’s side door and window of the person’s 2007 Dodge were damaged in the incident. The estimated damages are $150.

• Police said a 28-year-old woman from McAdoo had her purse stolen in an incident at 3:30 p.m. June 1 in a store at the Laurel Mall, Hazle Township.

Police said she left the purse in the fitting room of the store and could not locate it when she returned there.

• Police were called to a theft incident at 3:09 p.m. May 30 at a home on Berwick Street in Banks Township, resulting in a 45-year-old woman from Tresckow being cited for theft.

The other person involved is a 29-year-old woman from McAdoo who reported the woman stole Avon beauty supplies worth $10 from her.
