Local Roundup: Results from June 20

Northern Valley tripped Whitehall in legion action Thursday, while Franklin Township’s Junior Connie Mack team picked up a win against Nazareth.

Nick Bogert pitched an outstanding game and also drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the eighth inning to force in the winning run as Northern Valley edged Whitehall, 2-1.

Bogert went all eight innings on the mound, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out four.

In the home eighth with the score tied 1-1, Trey Sterling singled to open the frame. After a sacrifice bunt, Josh Lichman was walked. Following a fielder’s choice, Connor Simms was walked to load the bases. Bogert then worked another free pass to give the Chargers (5-4) a true walk-off win.

Sterling finished with two hits and both NV runs, while Aiden Freeman added a pair of hits.

Berlinsville-Avengers

The Avengers scored five runs in the first inning and went on to post a 9-4 victory over Berlinsville.

The Braves (5-8) actually outhit their opponent by a 10-6 margin but came up short on the scoreboard.

Luke Meehan had a hit and two runs for the winners, while Jaden Gallagher and Tyler LePage both added a hit and an RBI.

For Berlinsville, Zach Day and Rommel Perez each collected two hits and two runs. Isiah Johnson contributed a pair of hits and an RBI.

Franklin Township-

Nazareth

Cash White, Brock Atwood and Dominic Lawrence each drove in two runs to help Franklin Township gain an 11-8 victory over Nazareth.

White also had a double and scored three runs for the winners, who rallied from an early 5-1 deficit. Atwood finished with two hits, while Lawrence reached base three times with a hit and two walks.

Franklin also received a hit and two runs from both Braylon Hunsicker and Alex Kish.

Jake Albert earned the pitching win with 3 2/3 innings of work.

Palmerton-N’ampton

Palmerton turned back a late Northampton rally to secure an 8-7 win in Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack play on Wednesday.

The Bombers (6-4) scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to push their lead to 8-3, with Gaige McGowan driving in one run with a hit and Alex Keiper adding a two-run single to plate McGowan and Greyson Ahner, who singled, to make it a five-run game.

An RBI double from Jared Grammes opened the scoring in the third for Palmerton. The Bombers scored a run in the fourth, and added to the advantage when Chase Wilson and Mason Becker each singled to make it 5-2. Becker finished with two hits and two runs scored, while Tegan Silfies finished with a hit and scored a run.

Tyler Borger started the rally for Northampton (6-4) with a one-out single to score two runs. An error allowed two more to score to make it 8-7 with one out. Mason Becker got a fielder’s choice and a strikeout with a runner at third to end the game.
