19 people displaced in Lehighton fire

Nineteen people, including an infant, were displaced in a ravaging fire Thursday night on North First Street in Lehighton.

Fire companies from throughout Carbon County battled the multiple alarm fire reported around 7 p.m. in the 300 block of North First Street. When the first firefighters arrived on scene they found heavy flames and smoke pouring from the initial site. The flames quickly spread to several adjoining homes.

The home where the first started was destroyed. The first floor was vacant and two other families lived on the other floors.

The homes next to the house have roof damage, plus water and smoke damage.

Six families were affected, the Red Cross said. A Gofundme account has been set up for Christine Ferguson and her three sons Mason, Lukas, and Jacob. They were not home when the fire broke out, but they lost everything, according to the account page.
