June 18, 1974 - Tamaqua’s Gary Sohosky shoots a 71 to claim the top spot in the second annual boys golf tournament at Mahoning Valley Golf Course. The Marian product suffers a pair of double bogeys early in his round but rebounds to shoot a 36 on the front nine. He adds a 35 on the back nine to finish one over on the par-70 course. Marian teammate Len Sniscak nearly forces a playoff, narrowly missing a putt on 18 that leaves him one stroke back. Another Marian golfer, Dave Linkchorst, and Palmerton’s Mike Versuk both finish third with 73s.
