Local Roundup: Results from June 17

Northern Valley and Franklin Township cruised to victories on Monday night.

Palmerton-Northern Valley

A big game from Brayden Buskirk helped Northern Valley cruise to an 11-1 win in six innings over Palmerton in Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack action.

Buskirk had launched a grand slam in a five-run fifth inning to blow open a 4-1 game. Parker Schaffer put Northern Valley (5-1) ahead in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run single, with Coy Daubert’s RBI groundout plating another run.

Watson Church was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Cannon Fitch had a double and two RBIs and a run scored. Christopher Vargos pitched four solid innings, striking out eight to earn the win. Griffin Unrath tossed two hitless innings in relief to seal the win.

An RBI single by Greyson Ahner in the top of the first inning put Palmerton (5-4) on the board. Mason Becker and Gaige McGowan each had a pair of hits for the Bombers.

Franklin Township-Lower Mac

Brady Stubits had three hits and knocked in four runs to help power Franklin Township to a 14-3 victory over Lower Macungie.

The winners used a pair of four-run innings in the third and fourth to break open a close game.

Pierce Goida added a pair of hits, scored two runs and had an RBI, while Landon Abelovsky contributed a hit and drove in two runs.

Franklin, now 6-2, also received a hit, an RBI and three runs from both Zoltan Bedocs and Hunter Kintz.

Cole Dietz earned the pitching win, allowing seven hits and no walks while striking out seven in six innings of work.

FT returns to action Wednesday against Hellertown.

SCHUYLKILL SENIOR TEENER

Branch-Lansford

Branch pushed across five runs in the top of the seventh inning to claim a 7-4 win over Lansford in Schuylkill Senior Teener League action.

Nate Halupa (2-for-4) singled to drive in two in the decisive frame for Branch. Camden Rogers was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Rogers and Halupa each stole two bases for Branch.

The rally spoiled a strong start from Lansford’s (2-4) Danny Wehr. Wehr struck out 13 batters in six innings. Bradley Bartlett tripled in the bottom of the third for Lansford to tie the game at 1-1. Doubles by Gabe Perilli (two RBIs) and Lucas Strohl in the bottom of the fifth helped Lansford take a 4-1 lead. Strohl was 2-for-2 with a run scored.
