Monroe County incidents

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 21-year-old Saylorsburg man was cited for harassment by physical contact after police said he slapped his 3-year-old nephew.

State police at Stroudsburg said they were called at 5:05 p.m. June 11 to a residence on Seitz Street, Hamilton Township, for a domestic dispute.

They said their investigation determined the man struck his nephew in the back of the head, resulting in a red mark. Police said the boy was subjected to unwanted physical contact without the disciplinary permission of his parental guardian.

Police said a youth aid supervisor was notified of the incident in conjunction with the ChildLine network.

• A 36-year-old East Stroudsburg man was cited for disorderly conduct after he confronted a dirt bike rider in an incident at 2:55 p.m. June 1 on Sky Hawk Trail in Middle Smithfield Township.

Police said the man and the 14-year-old boy, also from East Stroudsburg, were involved in an argument that escalated when the man grabbed the handlebars of the dirt bike and pushed it. The boy told police he avoided falling to the ground but he had a mark on his left arm. Emergency medical services were denied, police said.

They also said the actions of the man resulted in the dirt bike leaking fluids on the road.

• Police were called to a property at Westlake and Stratton drives in Middle Smithfield Township at 8:42 p.m. June 1.

They said an 18-year-old male consumed excessive alcohol to the point he required medical attention.

• Police are investigating a theft by deception/extortion incident on May 18. The person involved is a 26-year-old man from East Stroudsburg.

They said someone threatened to disseminate embarrassing photographs of the man so he sent the suspect two payments totaling $1,300. Police said the incident is commonly referred to as a “romance scam” or “cat-fishing.”

• Police were summoned to Metzgar Road, Hamilton Township, at 7:54 p.m. May 30 for a driving under the influence of alcohol incident.

They said they were called for a 2013 BMX in the middle of the roadway with its driver unresponsive. Through their investigation, it was determined the man was impaired by alcohol.
