A man making home improvements without permits in Tresckow said he didn’t know how to get them but will now.
Jeffrey Kiraly attended the Banks Township supervisors’ meeting Monday night to find out why he was issued a cease-and-desist order for work he is doing on his Fern Street home.
Kiraly said he went numerous times to the new Banks Township Municipal Building on Maple Street, but no one was there.
Supervisor William Nice Jr. said the building is not yet open to the public due to a wait for furniture that has been ordered but has not yet arrived.
Kiraly said he went to the supervisors’ meeting because Supervisor Charles Schalles’ name was on the paperwork he received. Schalles explained the paperwork came from the township zoning officer, which has nothing to do with the supervisors.
Kiraly provided his contact information to Nice, who said he would provide it to Andrew Ray, the township zoning officer. Kiraly said he would get the necessary permits.
Kiraky also asked why his garbage was taken away and gone through. Schalles explained going through garbage is a common practice, to find garbage that may have been brought in from other municipalities which should not be disposed of in the township.
Road work
Nice said work to even out the Junedale Circle began but has been suspended because the township backhoe broke down.
Some alleys in the township will get a second name honoring veterans from the township who died in wars.
Nice said he attended a grants workshop where he leaned most grants have a local match of funds.
